A Weatherman for All Seasons:
The Life of Morton J. Rubin

When World War II ended in Europe, German U-Boats were ordered
to cease hositilities and surrender the boats at the nearest port controlled
byt the Allies. However, German Sub U724 chose another course, and now,
sixty years later, the last surviving member of the crew comes forward and
tells his story. That leads to this adventure by a small U.S. navy crew
working for the Office of Naval Intelligence.
Reader review:
"The author sends his special operations team into a fourth adventure this time that begins in Germany with an old man who was a very young crewman on a U-Boat at the end of WW2. This young sailor witnessed the burial of a container of secret documents from Hitler himself. The story unfolds and is spiced up when the US Embassy assigns Alice Williams of the Naval Attache Office to escort the old man to Office of Naval Intelligence in Washington. The book is a masterful demonstration of a real military operation showing the incredible complexity of planning to carry out a rapidly changing situation. Any military reader will recognize the care of detail and "hurry up and wait." For a civilian reader that concept alone is worth this good read."
